Overview
Technological innovation has given birth to new ways to index workpieces. Two examples are servomotor-driven multiple-axis control and cooperative control. Computerized control is another important technology for sophisticated machines, but complex systems do not alleviate problems of running costs and daily maintenance. That's where Kawata got to thinking. Isn't there a way to make sound quality products more easily and with greater precision? There is. We've stripped down workpiece indexing to only the true bare essentials.

How TOUCHDEX Works
*Angle Indexing
TOUCHDEX is so simply constructed that it can be used on any machine by anyone as soon as it is installed. And, machining is further enhanced when TOUCHDEX is coupled with options or other TOUCHDEX units.
The pushbar on the right end is pushed by a machine center tool.
When pushed by the tool, the table indexes the angle preset for the tool's stroke.
As the pushbar retracts, the tool is automatically clamped.
Indexing time: Approx. 1 sec Speed: Min. 5000 mm/sec (Set to less than half if tool is unbalanced.)
Higher Precision Indexing

If the push distance of the pushbar is set in the machine center's
program, indexing is possible in an angle of 5 increments.>
With the FDM-230-360、FD-200-360、FD-300-360
ndexing is possible to an unbelievable an angle of 1accuracy!>
This offers users the precision needed for delicate machining control.
*Indexing Programming （with FDM-200-04）
With a full indexing stroke (78 mm) of approximately
an angle of 90, indexing is possible to an angle of 5 by
pushing 18.5 mm, or to an angle of 10 by pushing 22
mm. Lock release stroke (15) + (Rotational stroke
78 - Lock release stroke 15)/18 = 15 + 3.5 = 18.5
15 + 2/18 (Rotational stroke) = 22 mm
